  • Minutes – April 2026

    The Odum City Council met for it’s monthly meeting on April 14, 2026.  Mayor Greg Leggett called the meeting to order and prayed the invocation.  Kathy Rozier, Ron Sluder, Kelsea Baker and Nicholas Bauer were present for the meeting.  Kevin Higgs was absent

    Nick Bauer made a motion to accept the March 26 minutes as emailed.  Kelsea Baker made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    Committee Reports

    Kathy Rozier had nothing to report

    Ron Sluder stated that he had some ideas for the Recreation Complex that he would bring to the next meeting.

    Nick Bauer had nothing to report.

    Kelsea Baker had nothing to report.

    Police Chief, Leon McKinney asked the council about allowing the public to use Odum’s gun range that is located off of Reddish Rd.  After a brief discussion, Ron Sluder made a motion to NOT allow the public to use the range, only authorized law enforcement may use the range.  Kelsea Baker made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    Fire Chief, Matthew Strickland informed the council that the Knocker truck repairs are almost complete. He also asked the council to purchase a Thermal Imager at a cost of $1614.21.  After a discussion, Nick Bauer made a motion to purchase the Imager from the SPLOST V funds that are allocated for public safety.  Ron Sluder made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    Mayor Greg Leggett called on Mr. Aubrey Mansfield, Maintenance Supervisor.  Mr. Aubrey told the council that our Tap Tool and attachments are worn out.  He has been borrowing one from Screven for the last few taps that he has installed.  After a brief discussion Ron Sluder made a motion to buy a new tap tool and attachments from Macon Supply Company at a price of $3175.30 and to purchase it with SPLOST V Funds.  Kelsea Baker made a 2nd to the motion and the motion carried with a 3-0 vote.  Kathy Rozier did not vote.

    Mayor Greg Rozier informed the council that the Chamber of Commerce had asked for donations for an upcoming Event.  Ron Sluder made a motion to donate $250.00 for the event.  Kathy Rozier made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    City Clerk, Robbin Manners, read a resolution to amend the Comprehensive Plan Work Plan for the City of Odum to include a plan to replace, and clean culverts and ditches in the City of Odum.  The Cost will be around $1,000,000.  The City has applied for a CDBG Grant to help fund the project. Kathy Rozier made a motion to adopt the resolution and allow Mayor Greg Leggett to sign it on behalf of the City of Odum. Nick Bauer made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    Mayor Greg Leggett informed the council that the City of Screven had asked for a donation toward the 4th of July Fireworks Event for 2026, noting that it is our Nation’s 250th Birthday.  Ron Sluder made a motion to donate $500 to the City of Screven for this event.  Kelsea Baker made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    Ron Sluder made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Kathy Rozier made a second to the motion and the motion carried with a 4-0 vote.

    With nothing further to attend the meeting was adjourned.
